‘Morocco: The IT Success Story of the 2020s’

Wed 6th March 2019 @ 7:00 pm

Talk by Frank Domoney, Chief Information Officer, Anglia Maghreb Smart City
4 years ago, I identified Morocco as the next big IT success story of the century. Like Ireland where I’m from, it has lots of educated young people and good universities; it faces both Europe and the Atlantic; it is a gateway to Africa for companies who want to invest, and has extensive links to other African Countries.
Key to the future success is participation in and integration with the big EU programmes supporting High Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence which covers many areas including Robotics. I will explain these during the Talk.
I did an experiment in Marrakech to see how much we could teach in 6 days and the results were astonishing.
Not only will we be setting up a Supercomputing, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Centre of Excellence in Marrakech but we will be setting up two software houses to specialise in programming Vision Equipped Robots – which should generate a lot of revenue. We will also teach self-driving car technology using DuckieTown as part of our Continuing Professional  Education programme.
